Our quaint little town is situated in the western part of Burt County near the Logan Creek Valley, which is west of the Missouri River with the basic economic activities including farming, cattle & hog production, feed processing, wholesale and retail sales, construction and medical services.
With the history of the railroad coming thru our town and two major Highways intersecting 1/2 mile South of Oakland. The North-South U.S. Highway 77 and East-West Nebraska Highway 32 has allowed many to be “Valkommen” at the edge of the Swedish Capital.
Oakland has a population of 1,279 and is still growing, welcoming any who would like to stop for a cup of coffee at Memories Cafe on Main Street to learning more at our Swedish Heritage Center or having a stroll at our Troll Stroll area while deciding to stay at our Bing Bed & Breakfast.
Oakland has quite a few attractions while visiting our town, depending on the season one could visit the Harvest Moon Pumpkin Patch or choose to soak up the sun at our 18-Hole Golf Course/Club, cooling down with a nice beverage at our local bar Titled Table Bar & Grill ending the night with good ole-fashion burger and fries. The City Park provides camping during those baseball/softball seasons with a hop/skip away from the fields or choose to dip your feet in our Oakland Swimming Pool not too far from the fields and end the adventure with a canoe ride down the Logan Creek located right next to the camp sights.
We are quite sure you wont be disappointed in anything you choose to do in Oakland NE.
