The Nebraska Public Power District retails electricity to the city of Oakland. The 4,160 volt grid system is supplied by a 5,000/6,250 kVA substation. This distribution substation is energized by a 34,500 volt subtransmission line from a 115,000 volt substation adjacent to Oakland. This substation can be energized from several different sources to give the Oakland area extremely reliable electrical service. The system is tied into the statewide grid system by means of high voltage transmission lines.
